Message from Katie's Mom
read at Ottawa vigil, Jan 18, 7 pm

I would like to thank everyone for attending tonight. I am sorry I cannot be there with you, but know that I am there in spirit. I cannot bring myself to leave the house for fear that I will miss a call from Katie.

As a parent this is the absolute worst nightmare you can ever imagine, having a child go missing. Not only is she missing but there is no one who can give me, and others who love her, any answers. The past 6 days have been extremely painful. Moments of hope, followed by news of further tragedy have created an emotional rollercoaster.

Every time I hear of another survivor being pulled from the wreckage I get that flicker of hope back. Keep your candles burning and hope alive until Katie is found and returned safely.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all you are doing to support Katie, our family and the rescue efforts in Haiti.

I also want to thank everyone at Franz Environmental, where Katie works, for treating her like family and being so diligent in their search efforts.

Please bring Katie home!
